Kelley-Rex Player of the Year - Zach Scafati, Franklin
Scafati, who is considering several collegiate options, led the Panthers to a 12-3-5 record. He was the leader at the heart of a strong Franklin defense that allowed only 5 goals in the final 15 games of the season, including two shutouts in the playoffs.
“Zach was our leader defensively,” said head coach Fran Bositis. “I know Zach will say that it was a team thing and that he had a lot of help, but it wouldn't have happened without Zach out on the field. This is a well-deserved award for him.”
“Each kid gave up his personal agenda for the good of the team,” said Scafati about Franklin’s division-winning season. “We came together as a team and we couldn’t have asked for a better year.”
Davenport Player of the Year - David MacKinnon, OA
The Hartford-bound senior played in 19 regular season games and led Oliver Ames to an impressive 13-2-4 record. In addition to his 11 shutouts, MacKinnon only allowed 6 goals all regular season, good for a 0.32 GAA.
"He surpassed any and all expectations," OA head coach John Barata said. "He had one of the best percentages in the entire region. He's a man amongst boys in the high school arena."
As of now, MacKinnon is scheduled to attend Hartford to play baseball, but after his impressive senior campaign, Division I college soccer could be in his future.
"The season was way better than we expected," MacKinnon said. "It was probably one of the most fun seasons, too."

Coach of the Year - John Barata, Oliver Ames
Barata was also named as the Division 1 South Coach of the Year.
The Tigers started off the season by going undefeated in their first 11 games. They were crowned Davenport Division champions for the second straight year.
"I thought it was a very successful season. I think the team overachieved at times. We played some great soccer and we had some very good leadership. To be honest, the season was terrific and these seniors leave with a nice legacy."
