Player of the Year: Avery Devoe, Canton
Canton senior Avery Devoe has been selected as the inaugural HockomockSports.com Girls Volleyball Player of the Year for the 2013 season.
Devoe, a middle hitter and outside hitter, led the Bulldogs to a 19-3 record, a Davenport Division Title, and a second straight appearance in the Division 2 Central Finals.
The 6-foot tall captain had a team-high 318 kills, over a 100 more than the next player on the team. Devoe also had a team-best 44% kill percentage and team-best .311 hitting percentage. Devoe was also a force on defense, with a team-high 47 total blocks and 100 digs. She was also a top server for the Bulldogs, with a team-high 49 aces, adding in a 88.9% serve percentage.
Devoe had her best offensive game of the season in the playoffs, racking up a season-high 30 kills with a 42.3% kill percentage. She had five other games in which she had at least 20 kills or more. She had her best serving day of the season in a 3-0 win over Stoughton, recording 8 aces and her best defensive game at the net in a 3-0 win over OA, coming up with 5 blocks.
