Games of the Week - 12/21/12
Breakdown
Friday's match up of Hockomock newcomer Milford and Stoughton should be an early season test for both teams. Milford has started off hot with two wins and have averaged an 18.5 point margin of victory to begin the season. Stoughton has split their first two games, losing to Attleboro on a last second Tim Walsh jumper but rebounded to down Davenport rival Sharon on the road. Milford is looking to make their mark in their first year in the league while Stoughton is trying to match their incredibly successful season last year. Both teams have strong senior classes and solid role players beyond the class of 2013. As one coach described, Milford is a deep team that is long and full of solid players. Stoughton thrives on defense and likes to create their offense through their defense.
Players to Watch
Stoughton boasts one of the best defenders in the entire state in guard Marcus Middleton, who is in his second year as captain. Middleton is also Stoughton's best option offensively and is an accurate shooter inside the three point line. Fellow captains Joe Bunce-Grenon and Mauro Oliveira are also strong shooters and can easily catch fire at any point. Joe Wilder, Mike Gallagher, and Eddie Grant all figure to factor in strong minutes for the Black Knights.
For Milford, a very deep roster is a dangerous one. Senior Aaron Anniballi led the Scarlet Hawks in scoring their first game against North Attleboro but it was junior Chris Brown, off the bench, that did so in their second game. They have received strong performances from David Mercier in both games this season. Michael Soares, Mike Titlebaum, and Michael Tracy are all experience seniors that contribute. Their depth and size will help them all season long.
