Former Mansfield forward Erik Foley was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday in the third round with the 78th overall pick in the NHL Draft.
Foley played one season for the Hornets, his freshman year, before transferring to Tabor Academy for two seasons. Foley is set to attend Providence College this Fall to play for the defending National Champion Friars and coach Nate Leaman.
At Mansfield, Foley was a vital part in getting the Hornets to the D1 South Sectional Finals, a game in which he scored. Foley scored a team-high 22 goals as a freshman and also had a team-high 17 points for 39 points, which ranked third in the entire league (only behind two seniors).
With a member of Tabor's hockey team, Foley racked up 65 points in 55 games and while playing two seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, he had 54 points in 56 games according to EliteProspects.com.
