Foxboro has hired former New England Revolution player Joe Franchino has its new boys soccer head coach, AD Caitlin Brown confirmed to HockomockSports.com
Franchino takes over for Pat Nash, who is taking an administrative job in the Westboro school system after seven years at helm. Nash was named the HockomockSports.com Coach of the Year in 2014. Franchino played for and was captain of the Revolution and made 162 appearances from 2000 to 2008 and made 64 appearances from the LA Galaxy over the court of four seasons.
"We will miss Pat both in the classroom and on the playing field," Brown told HockomockSports.com. "However, we are excited to name Joe as his replacement."
Nash guided a young Foxboro squad to a 15-5-1 record this past season and the program's first Hockomock League title (Davenport Division) since 2002. The Warriors advanced to the MIAA Division 3 South Semifinals.
"We feel that due to his extensive knowledge of soccer, his commitment to our core values and his familiarity with the town of Foxborough that he will be a great fit for our program," Brown said.
The Warriors are set to return the HockomockSports.com Underclassman of the Year and Best XI selection Joe Morrison along with Best XI selections Devante Teixeira and Jeff Melo and Second XI selection Robby Lowey along with a handful of over staters.
