Hock 5 - Softball (Updated 6/25/13)
Team | Record | News |
---|---|---|
1. Milford | (26-1) | Not only is Milford the best team in the Hockomock, they were the best team in the entire state, proving so with their second Division I championship in a row. Shannon Smith ends her career as one of the best players in the state’s history and graduates with an incredibly talented senior class. Even better might be the talent the Scarlet Hawks are returning, starting with Sam Bonvino, Taylor LeBrun, Allie Piergustavo, Jill powers and more. - RL |
2. King Philip | (17-5) | The biggest test that Milford faced during the run to the state title was a 9-inning duel against the Warriors. Anna O'Neill was a big game pitcher and hitter, but she also recieved help at the plate from sophomore Renee Poirier and senior Tori Constantin. This may have been the best defensive team in the league and in some people's minds, the second best team in the state. - JP |
3. Taunton | (17-7) | The newcomers to the league had a pretty solid debut season. Despite boasting a young lineup with several freshmen, including shortstop and cleanup hitter Jordan Wade, the Tigers knocked off KP twice and beat North Attleboro in the postseason. Watch out for the Tigers next year. - JP |
4. North Attleboro | (14-7) | The Rocketeers had a very good season but had a very tough draw for their first round match up with Taunton. The good news for North is that Meg Colleran will be back next year and has the chance to be the top player in the league. - RL |
5. Franklin | (16-7) | The Panthers flew under the radar all season and the playoffs were no different. Franklin showed the depth of the Hock with a run all the way to the sectional semifinals and Coach Fallon's scrappy, young team should be a handful in the coming seasons. - JP |
On The Edge: Oliver Ames (14-8)
