When I first started HockomockSports.com, I wasn’t quite sure how successful it would be. I had done a year’s worth of freelancing for Patch.com and had seen home competitive the Hockomock League was.
I launched RyanLanigan.net to allow myself some writing freedom – at the high school level and at the professional level. It didn’t take long and after consulting with ESPNBoston’s Brendan Hall, I decided on HockomockSports.com.
One year after first launching, I have absolutely no regrets. We covered an MIAA Superbowl just weeks after our launch and more recently covered the Franklin girls soccer team’s undefeated state championship season.
In between, we have posted dozens of “Allow Me To Introduce Myself” profiles and “Senior Spotlight” profiles. We have covered incredible softball stars and witnessed an incredible reign come to an end.
We followed along on Stoughton basketball’s special run to the Garden, accompanied by slam-dunks, a 1000-point scorer, and a playoff win over an arch-rival.
Speaking of basketball, we covered two of the best players in the entire state with now-Maryland forward Jake Layman and Lee Academy’s Aaron Calixte - formally of Stoughton.
We have had professional connections to the league and just recently witnessed football history.
And on top of that, the league added two new schools in Milford and Taunton.
I’m very grateful to everyone that has helped from the start – from Brendan Hall to Monica Monteiro to my current staff of Josh Perry and Tim Rosenthal.
I hope to make year two even better than the first.
