Why do you play the sport of soccer?
It's fun, I love the sport. I play for a great team with great teammates and great coach and there is nothing better than that. I also love the speed of play; it is nonstop, there are hardly any breaks and it is constant game play for 80 minutes.
Why is 2012-2013 going to be a good year for King Philip High School?
We have worked hard this offseason and have come together as a team like never before, we understand what we have to do this year to reach our goals and we’re practicing hard to reach them.
What is your favorite KP soccer memory so far?
Starting varsity sophomore year every game alongside my older brother as centerbacks, I learned more from my brother that year than I have from any single person. Also my freshman year when we made the tedious hike to Nauset for a state tournament game, the whole atmosphere in there was amazing. The game was a non-stop battle and being the underdogs that game we put everything we had on the pitch. All of our training, all of our goals and emotions were put into all 80 minutes that night, the memory of that game now serves as a precedent of how we expect to play each game.
What were your emotions when you played your first varsity game?
I was scared and nervous, but excited. I was only a freshman and with all the stronger and faster seniors around me it was definitely intimidating. Playing alongside the older kids that you look up to gives you a certain feeling that is indescribable.
What makes playing for King Philip High School so special?
The teammates, they are all great kids and they all have so much passion for playing. We push each other very hard knowing no one of us is better than the other. We all have so much respect for one another and that I believe is key to establishing a uniform team.
When you’re not practicing, what are you usually doing?
I am probably relaxing, not often do I get to do that while the season is underway. Whether it is with friends or family I try to take it easy after a practice or game so that I can focus all my energy into the next day’s agenda.
