STOUGHTON, Mass – Senior Marcus Middleton hit a late three that pulled Stoughton ahead and added two free throws as the Black Knights rallied to beat Sharon 58-55.
Stoughton is now at .500 at 6-6 while Sharon drops their third straight game to go to 7-6. Sharon started the season 0-3 before winning seven straight.
Stoughton used a 10-0 run late in the fourth quarter to put themselves ahead after Sharon went up 54-46. Joey Wilder scored four of his eight fourth quarter points while Middleton’s three capped it.
The Eagles shot 3-12 from the field in the final frame and shot 2-5 from the free throw line.
“Self destruction,” Sharon head coach Bruce Jackman said. “Missed layups and missed foul shots. They didn’t do anything to cause us any commotion. We just did it ourselves.”
Middleton started off hot, hitting three three-pointers in the first quarter, but didn’t register a point in the second half until his big three. He finished with a game-high 21 points.
Sharon was led offensively by Brian Lawrence, who netted a team-high 16 points. He shot 6-7 from the field in the second half. Brian Mukasa finished with 14 points.
Stoughton will be on the road next week, starting on Tuesday when they travel to Milford trying to avenge a loss from earlier in the season. Sharon will look to hault their current skid when they host Foxboro on Tuesday.
