In the opening round, Walsh connected on 16 of his 25 shots, the most of any of the 12 boys in the round. He advanced to the finals along with Canton's Matt Kelley, who hit 13 shots in the opening round, the second most of any of the boy shooters in the event.
In the final round, the two went head to head and finished knotted 10-10, sending the three point finals into overtime. Walsh was able to just edge Kelley, hitting three of five shots from a selected spot while Kelley hit two.
