Stoughton's win over Attleboro Friday night, showcased many errors in which the Black Knights need to improve on if they want to make a long run in the state tournament. Stoughton (11-1) defeated Attleboro (6-6) 77-57 in a game Stoughton committed 22 team turnovers.
Coming into the game the match up everyone was looking at was Attleboro's JJ Jolaoso (16 points) versus Stoughton junior captain Marcus Middleton (22 points, 2 blocks and 5 assists). Other notables included Attleboro sophomore Tim Walsh with 16 points, and fellow sophomore Shawn Reardon chipping in with 9 points.
The Black Knights were given a spark from senior Raymond Bowdre making his first start of the season while producing 7 points. The Black Knights enjoyed a balanced offensive attack including junior Mauro Oliviera with 14 points, junior Joe Bunce-Grenon with 6 points, senior Steffan Jackson with 7 points, senior Antonio "Nuke" Ferreira with 8 points, and junior captain Aaron Calixte with 9 points, 9 assists and 4 steals.
Stoughton shot 7/18 from the three point line, while shooting 21/32 on two point attempts.
Calixte wrapped up the game by stating, "We didn't play well. We had some turnovers but we still won, that's all that matters".
The road ahead get's a little easier for the Bombardiers as they travel to Taunton for an out of league game Wednesday night.
As for Stoughton, the Black Knights will hit the road to face Foxboro (4-9) Tuesday night before hosting the red hot Franklin Panthers (9-3) Friday night.
