Hock 5 - Girls Lacrosse (Updated 6/20/13)
Team | Record | News |
---|---|---|
1. Franklin | (18-3) | The Panthers continue to dominate the Hock with another perfect league record. Franklin, under first-year coach Kristin Igoe, also added several impressive non-league wins in particular a stunning 5-3 upset of perennial power Needham. As a sign of how far the Panthers have come, Needham coach Beth O'Brien and Westwood coach Leslie Frank both raved about how tough Franklin was. - JP |
2. Foxboro | (16-2-1) | The Warriors suffered an early exit in a playoff game that they had an early lead and their comeback was cut short by the clock. Foxboro will surely miss senior Ellen Decker, but they will return their top two scorers in Marybeth Sweeney (75 points) and Katie Notarangelo (52 points). - RL |
3. Canton | (10-8-2) | The Bulldogs made a typical run in the second half of the season to clinch the second spot behind Foxboro and even earned a hard-fought, late-season tie with the Warriors. Meg Lennon provided the goals for the high-scoring Bulldogs, but Canton needed a little more strength at the back to make a serious tournament run. - JP |
4. King Philip | (8-12) | The Warriors boasted some of the best talent in the league, but tournament qualification was undone by a very difficult out of conference schedule that included tough games against the likes of Medfield and Notre Dame Academy. Junior Alicia Cuoco notched her 100th career goal and will try to help KP rebound next season. - JP |
5. Mansfield | (11-9-1) | Mansfield might not have posted the record they wanted, but they succeeded in honoring their fallen teammate, Michaela Smith. The Hornets scored 17 goals on their senior night, the same number that Smith wore. It will be a tough senior class to replace, especially goalie Maria Platsidakis. – RL |
